About The Position

Supports the execution, administration, and operational management of assumed reinsurance activities within the Alternative Ventures organization. This role assists in contract intake, treaty documentation, compliance, operational governance, and partnership with key internal stakeholders such as Reinsurance Placement, Reinsurance Accounting, and Audit. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and eager to develop expertise in reinsurance structures, systems, and processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Risk Management, Insurance, or related field—or equivalent experience.
  • Typically, 5 or more years of experience in insurance or reinsurance operations, accounting, or compliance.
  • Familiarity with treaty and facultative reinsurance concepts.
  • Experience with data validation, reporting, or audit processes.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to interpret data and identify, patterns, discrepancies and root causes.
  • Collaboration: Works effectively with cross‑functional partners in a matrixed environment.
  • Details Orientation: Produces accurate work products with minimal oversight.
  • Learning Agility: Demonstrates curiosity and the ability to rapidly build reinsurance knowledge while adapting and applying new skills effectively.
  • Process Orientation: Identifies and helps to lead opportunities to streamline workflows and improve operational consistency.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Teams, and SharePoint; willingness to learn reinsurance concepts and data.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in Property & Casualty (P&C)/Excess & Surplus (E&S), reinsurance, and/or underwriting is strongly preferred.
  • Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) or Associates in Risk Management (ARM) preferred but not required.
  • Interest in pursuing ARe designation is strongly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor renewal timelines and proactively ensure timely communication and follow up with internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain and update Firm Order Terms (FOT) Intake and Geneva Working Group agendas to ensure assumed risks are reviewed and addressed promptly.
  • Collaborate with Underwriting and Reinsurance Placement to assess and communicate Geneva-related needs, updates, and system impacts.
  • Collaborate with other Underwriting Enablement team members to assist with assumed reinsurance Program onboarding.
  • Create and maintain Assumed Risk Treaty Summaries, ensuring accuracy and accessibility for business partners.
  • Ensure that assumed reinsurance treaty lists (Digital Treaty List and/or Vault) are accurately reflecting assumed risk terms.
  • Support preparation, drafting, and processing of treaty amendments.
  • Respond to BDX (Bordereaux) questions and clarify data or reporting inquiries from partners.
  • Partner with Reinsurance Accounting to address accounting-related questions tied to assumed reinsurance contracts.
  • Ensure all applicable Financial Risk Controls are adhered to and tested.
  • Monitor and track compliance with the 9‑month rule, escalating issues as needed.
  • Assist in responding to internal and external audit requests and conduct research to support audit readiness.
  • Support resolution of data reconciliation issues, partnering with relevant data and operational teams.
  • Manage and maintain the document library, ensuring documentation is current, organized, and easy to navigate.
  • Identify operational process gaps and propose improvement opportunities to strengthen efficiency and control.
  • Utilize artificial intelligence (AI) to create efficiencies.
  • Develop and implement a standardized process for facultative certificate management (and claims attachment), including tracking, monitoring, and reporting across all Alternative Ventures programs.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
