About The Position

The Special Services Paraprofessional will assist the assigned special services teacher and work with students assigned to that teacher. This role is crucial for supporting students with disabilities and ensuring program operations run smoothly within the classroom and school environment.

Requirements

• 60 College Hours, OR Passing Score of Paraprofessional Assessment, OR 20 HR Substitute Certificate Course
• Demonstrates knowledge in working with disabled population.
• Uses time effectively.
• Communicates effectively with students.
• Communicates effectively with staff.
• Demonstrates knowledge in working with students with behavior problems.
• Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with students.
• Demonstrates patience, respect and understanding for students.
• Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with staff.
• Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with parents.
• Demonstrates initiative and enthusiasm toward work.
• Conducts self at all times as a representative of the school.

Responsibilities

• Assist the special services teacher to whom assigned.
• Work with students assigned to that teacher.
• Prepare materials as assigned by the teacher.
• Provide services to students as assigned by the teacher.
• Provide for individual differences.
• Assist students in completing assignments.
• Assist students in moving about the building.
• Organize classroom to promote learning.
• Follow classroom management procedures as set by teacher.
• Participate in professional growth activities.
• Follow the policies and procedures of the school district.
• Follow guidelines developed by the teacher.
• Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

• Compensation is according to the salary schedule set for non certified employees as established annually by the Board of Education.
• All other employee benefits are according to the total FTE of employment for the individual.
