About The Position

The Special Services Manager provides instructional leadership and ensures compliance for Special Education and English Learner (EL) programs. Under the direction of the Director of Special Services, this role oversees service delivery, supervises Learning Specialists and Paraprofessionals, co-chairs SPED and EL meetings, and ensures that students receive appropriate academic supports, services, and accommodations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field (required)
  • Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience; special education experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and EL compliance
  • Demonstrated experience in program and personnel management

  • Master’s degree in Special Education and relevant credentialing (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Provide instructional coaching and feedback to Learning Specialists, Paraprofessionals, and General Education staff
  • Support curriculum design, implementation, and continuous improvement for SPED programs
  • Monitor student performance data to inform instruction and programming
  • Support and expand specialized programs, including autism programming
  • Ensure effective implementation of accommodations and modifications for students
  • Ensure compliance with IDEA, Section 504, EL regulations, and local and federal guidance
  • Maintain compliant student records and tracking systems for IEPs, evaluations, services, and timelines
  • Facilitate IEP, eligibility, annual review, MDR, and Section 504 meetings
  • Oversee EL identification, screening, assessments (including ACCESS), and opt-out processes
  • Collaborate on due process matters and special education evaluations
  • Oversee delivery of instructional and related services outlined in IEPs
  • Monitor service delivery across inclusion, resource, and self-contained settings
  • Coordinate ESY programming and special education testing accommodations
  • Serve as the point of contact for SPED transportation needs
  • Support school-wide routines, safety procedures, and emergency response efforts
  • Supervise, evaluate, and support Learning Specialists and Paraprofessionals
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and professional growth of special services staff
  • Manage attendance, performance, coaching, and discipline as needed
  • Respond to family inquiries, concerns, and requests related to special services
  • Facilitate family trainings and promote strong home–school partnerships
  • Collaborate with community partners to support student outcomes
  • Plan and facilitate professional development related to SPED, EL, and inclusive practices
  • Collaborate with instructional leaders to strengthen staff capacity and compliance
  • Stay current on best practices, policies, and research in special education
