About The Position

Cherokee Strategic Edge is seeking a Special Security Technician to support USSOCOM. The Special Security Technician manages SCIF operations ensuring alignment with client priorities by safeguarding sensitive compartmented information (SCI) and maintaining compliance with SCI program policies, directives, and procedures. This position is pending a contract award and is not an approved position at this time, but applications are being accepted for this future and anticipated need.

Requirements

  • Current TS/SCI with the ability to obtain a Counterintelligence polygraph
  • Minimum 8 years of experience related to Physical and Information Security.
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge, understanding, and experience in managing and implementing security protocols for sensitive and classified programs
  • Demonstrated understanding of developing, implementing, and enforcing security programs
  • Familiar with ensuring the proper handling, storage, and destruction of classified materials, including both physical documents and electronic data.
  • Experienced in conducting security education and training
  • Incident Response: Investigating and reporting all security incidents, infractions, and violations.
  • Compliance & Inspections: Conducting regular self-inspections and preparing for external compliance inspections to ensure all security protocols are being followed
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident and provide documentation.
  • Must possess an active TS/Sensitive Compartmental Information (SCI) clearance with the ability to obtain a Counterintelligence Polygraph.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the SCI security program, including security oversight for other SCIFs under the organization’s cognizance.
  • Accounting for, controlling, transmitting, transporting, packaging, and safeguarding SCI, as well as ensuring its destruction by authorized means.
  • Serve as the official channel for certifying and receiving SCI visitor clearances, manages personnel security actions such as nomination interviews and SCI access validations, and conducts security briefings that emphasize unauthorized disclosure awareness and reporting.
  • Maintain the Defense Information System for Security (DISS) or successor system to ensure personnel records are accurate and up to date, while also managing physical, information, and technical security measures, including TEMPEST and TSCM procedures.
  • Supervise annual self-assessments, report findings to DIA CI and Security Office.
  • Assist with the investigation of unauthorized disclosure of classified information.
  • Conduct SCI security education and training programs.
  • Maintain SCIF Accreditation documentations.
  • Validate DD Form 254s.
  • Manage the facility's access control system, including enrolling new personnel, issuing badges, and assigning permissions based on clearance and need-to-know.
  • Conduct daily security checks of the building, verifying the proper function of doors, locks, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and alarms.
  • Respond to, investigate, and document security alarms and anomalies.
  • Ensure un-cleared personnel (e.g., maintenance, cleaners, non-SCI cleared IT) performing work inside the building are escorted and continuously monitored.
  • Perform end-of-day security checks to ensure all classified materials are secured in approved containers and all security systems are armed.
  • Manage the inventory, control, and destruction of all classified IT media (e.g., hard drives, USB devices, CDs).
  • Process visitor access requests, verifying clearances and approvals through approved systems (i.e. Defense Information System for Security).
  • Assist the Special Security Officer (SSO) with security indoctrinations ("read-ins") for newly cleared personnel.
  • Provide security awareness reminders and enforce security protocols (e.g., prohibited items, proper document handling) with all facility occupants.
  • Maintain meticulous security logs and records for facility access, visitor control, safe combinations, and classified material destruction.
  • Assist in preparing the facility and its documentation for official security inspections and audits by accrediting authorities.
  • Manage combinations for safes, vaults, and secure doors, performing changes on a regular schedule or as required.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
