About The Position

Leidos is seeking a Special Security Officer (SSO) at Davis Monthan AFB AZ to perform a full range of security duties supporting ACC Wing SCI security programs. The SSO will assist in the operation of the special security office and administer the SCI security program, providing guidance for local/tenant SCIFs. The role involves interpreting national and defense directives, providing technical advice on SCI personnel, physical, and information security standards, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

Requirements

  • TS/SCI security clearance on day 1
  • High school degree and 5+ years of relevant experience OR Associate's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience. (Intel/security training and relevant studies may be considered as equivalencies towards education.)
  • Experience working with SCI in various security disciplines, specifically in personnel, physical, information, and basic information assurance.
  • Ability to work independently in an operational environment.
  • Knowledge of a full range of security principles, concepts, practices, products, and services.
  • Knowledge of methods for evaluating risk and vulnerability, implementing mitigating improvements, and disseminating security procedures/processes.
  • Knowledge of Intelligence Community Directives (ICD) 704, ICD 705 and Technical Specifications and DoDM 5105.21, V1 thru V3.
  • Working knowledge of other applicable Director of National Intelligence (DNI), Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), and USAF directives and regulations.
  • Ability to gather facts and use effective analytical and evaluative methods to assess information, plan actions, make sound decisions, and solve security problems.

  • Attended and completed a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIF) physical security course.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain applicable SCI directives, regulations, manuals, and guidelines.
  • Ensure SCI is properly accounted for, controlled, transmitted, transported, packaged, safeguarded, and destroyed by authorized means.
  • Ensure SCI is disseminated only to authorized persons with a need-to-know.
  • Investigate SCI security infractions, make recommendations, and prepare required reports.
  • Maintain liaison with collateral security officials.
  • Conduct SCI personnel, information, physical, and technical security (TEMPEST/TSCM actions).
  • Provide security awareness training.
  • Perform all aspects of the SCI Personnel Security Program, including nomination interviews, validation of SCI access requirements, submission of investigative requests, security briefings, obtaining NDAs/NDSs, and other personnel security actions.
  • Serve as the official channel for certifying and receiving SCI visitor clearances/accesses.
  • Maintain the Defense Information System for Security (DISS) system.
  • Provide guidance and assistance for processing SCI position and eligibility requests.
  • Process derogatory information concerning SCI indoctrinated individuals and assist commanders with Security Information Files.
  • Provide overall physical security and ensure SCIFs comply with ICD 705 and other applicable directives.
  • Prepare and revise physical accreditation paperwork, including fixed facility checklists.
  • Ensure appropriate accreditation documentation is available for each SCIF.
  • Ensure SCIFs conduct annual self-inspections.
