About The Position

This position is responsible for picking up dead animal carcasses throughout the city, oil collection, and department maintenance. The role involves operating garbage trucks and hydraulic systems, working with dispatchers and supervisors to schedule pick-ups, assisting with trash collection and special pick-ups for monthly reports, and performing preventive maintenance on equipment. The job also requires assisting other crews as needed and performing other assigned duties.

• Ability to maintain good health and physical condition sufficient to permit the full performance of the duties of this position.
• At least one (1) year of experience in refuse collection, laborer, or maintenance work.
• Valid Texas Driver License. If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
• Must be able to function in a principle-based organization that has a culture built on character and core values.

Responsibilities

• Retrieves dead animal carcass from public right of way and places in garbage truck or special vehicle provided for this purpose.
• Operates garbage truck and hydraulic systems on vehicle.
• Works with dispatcher and supervisor when scheduling pick-ups as they are called in from the public.
• Assists on trash collection and routes doing special pick-ups for monthly reports.
• Maintains equipment by doing preventive maintenance checks and reporting needed repairs to supervisor.
• Assists other crews in collecting refuse or operating equipment as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
