About The Position

The Special Projects Sheet Metal Technician will be responsible for coordinating, installing, repairing, and maintaining sheet metal and duct systems. This role involves assisting with HVAC equipment assembly and installation, fabricating sheet metal components in the field, and ensuring work complies with project specifications and quality standards. The technician will also be responsible for material management, reading blueprints, maintaining tools, collaborating with stakeholders, and mentoring apprentices. Safety and continuous improvement are key aspects of this position.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in commercial sheet metal or HVAC field operations.
  • Stable employment history.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication and HVAC installation practices.
  • Ability to fabricate offsets and fittings.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools.
  • Ability to perform basic material takeoffs.
  • Experience installing HVAC equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and productivity.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • OSHA 10 Certification.
  • Must provide basic hand tools.
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment and machinery safely.
  • Vision correctable to 20/50.
  • Ability to stand and work for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb ladders and scaffolds safely.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work at heights.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior sheet metal shop experience.
  • Journeyman License.
  • Trade school education or training.
  • Trade School certification preferred.
  • Journeyman License preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, install, repair, and maintain sheet metal and duct systems.
  • Assist with the assembly and installation of HVAC equipment as required.
  • Install hangers, supports, and related system components.
  • Perform field fabrication of sheet metal and duct systems.
  • Plan and adjust work sequences to meet project schedules and deadlines.
  • Manage materials efficiently to support timely project completion and minimize waste.
  • Inspect work in progress and completed installations to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in safe, working condition and ensure timely maintenance.
  • Collaborate effectively with general contractors, owners, customers, and project stakeholders.
  • Mentor and support apprentices and laborers by promoting productivity, quality workmanship, and skill development.
  • Foster continuous improvement in work processes, procedures, and team performance.
  • Follow all OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Load and unload materials, equipment, and deliveries at job sites.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Base Salary - USD $48,000 to $70,000
