About The Position

The Special Programs Technology Coordinator oversees the evaluation, acquisition, distribution, and inventory of technology aids (hardware and software) for Special Program students with Individual Education Plans. This role involves assisting students, teachers, and parents in identifying technology aides, maintaining records, performing related administrative tasks, and serving as a general resource to special programs personnel. The position reports to the Assistant Superintendent for Special Programs.

  • Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: preparing; maintaining accurate records; and using pertinent software applications.
  • Knowledge is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems.
  • Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: current generation computer hardware and software including operating systems; and concepts of grammar and punctuation.
  • Ability is required to schedule activities and/or meetings; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and consider a number of factors when using equipment.
  • Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods.
  • Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with similar types of data; and utilize a variety of types of job-related equipment.
  • Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans.
  • Problem solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem solving with equipment is moderate to significant.

  • Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.
  • Targeted, job related education with study in job-related area.

Responsibilities

  • Assists outside auditors and Accreditation Review Board for the purpose of providing documentation and coordinating activities.
  • Coordinates annual physical inventories of program technology aides for the purpose of ensuring accurate accounting and complying with mandated requirements.
  • Informs personnel and/or vendors regarding required documentation and/or procedures for the purpose of conveying information necessary to complete transactions.
  • Maintains computer hardware and software applications (local and server based) inventory and password lists for the purpose of ensuring availability of equipment and/or supporting materials.
  • Maintains records and files (computerized and manual) relating to available resource materials (e.g. location of each technology support device; licenser and usage agreements for software; special needs books, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring access to materials when required and complying with grant and other mandated requirements.
  • Monitors related grant funds and financial activity for the purpose of ensuring that allocations are accurate, expenses are within budget limits and/or fiscal practices are followed.
  • Orients teachers, parents, students, other district staff and contracted service providers to the availability and use of technology aides (e.g. in-services, workshops, individual sessions, etc.) for the purpose of establishing familiarity with program, services, and required processes.
  • Oversees assigned support personnel for the purpose of guiding and monitoring performance and/or ensuring compliance with District, state and federal regulations.
  • Prepares written materials (e.g. current technology inventory, purchase orders, reports, memos, letters, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information.
  • Procures technology aides, supplies and materials, including "repurposing" existing hardware and software for the purpose of maintaining availability of required items.
  • Reconciles discrepancies in asset records (e.g. physical count versus reported items, purchase orders versus items received, physical location of items, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining an accurate inventory of all technology aides and related items.
  • Researches assistive devices, computer hardware and software applications, vendors, consultants, etc. for the purpose of being knowledgeable on trends and recommending acquisitions.
  • Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources (e.g. staff, vendors, students, parents, etc.) for the purpose of providing information and/or direction.
  • Transports a variety of items (e.g. devices, equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of providing materials in classroom or transporting equipment for repair.
  • Assists other personnel, as may be required, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
