About The Position

This role involves assisting in all aspects of invasive procedures, including scrubbing, circulating, monitoring, and recording hemodynamic parameters. The technologist will operate radiologic and interventional equipment, ensuring optimal image quality and patient safety. Responsibilities include acquiring, processing, and transferring images to the PACS system, documenting supplies and implants, preparing and positioning patients, and providing patient education. A thorough understanding of anatomy, physiology, radiation safety, and equipment operation is essential. The technologist will apply radiation safety principles, assist with room and tray setup, coordinate workflow, and assist physicians with contrast media administration. Participation in ongoing education, maintaining inventory, performing daily checklists and equipment safety checks, and assisting with vascular procedures are also key duties. Proficiency in computerized informatics, cleaning equipment, and participating in quality improvement initiatives are required. On-call duties for off-shifts, weekends, and holidays are mandatory. The role also emphasizes providing excellent service to patients, families, visitors, volunteers, and co-workers.

Requirements

Must read, write and communicate in English.
High school graduate or GED.
Graduate of a JRCERT accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
(ARRT) - Current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
(RLT) - Currently licensed as a Radiologic Technologist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
Must meet at least one of the following qualifications for Tech I: a. Minimum of two (2) years post-technical school radiology work experience OR b. Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Special Procedures Technologist Will-Train at CCH.
Must meet at least one of the following qualifications for Tech I: a. Successful completion of on-the-job training within six (6) months of hire OR b. Six (6) months’ recent experience (within the past two (2) years) as a Special Procedures Technologist.
CCHC Basic Arrhythmia Exam (successfully pass)
(BLS) – Current Basic Life Support Certification
(ACLS) – Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (obtained within six (6) months of employment)
(IABP) Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (obtained within six (6) months of employment)
All qualifications of Tech I, plus the following for Tech II: Must meet at least one of the following qualifications: a. (RCIS) Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist certification b. (CI) Cardiac Interventional certification c. (VI) Vascular Interventional certification d. (RCES) Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist
All qualifications of Tech I, plus the following for Tech III: Must meet at least one of the following qualifications: a. (RCIS) Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist certification b. (CI) Cardiac Interventional certification c. (RCES) Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist
Must hold (VI) Vascular Interventional certification for Tech III.

Nice To Haves

Having an older combined Cardiovascular-Interventional (CV) credential serves the same clinical function as holding both Cardiac Interventional (CI) and Vascular Interventional (VI) certifications.

Responsibilities

Assist in all aspects of invasive procedures, including scrubbing, circulating, monitoring and recording hemodynamic parameters in accordance with policies and procedures.
Assists in diagnostic and interventional procedures, operates radiologic and interventional equipment ensuring optimal image quality and patient safety.
Acquire, process and transfer images to the PACS system.
Document all supplies, implants and other regulatory components pertaining to the exam.
Prepares, positions, transfers and assists patients during procedures to ensure safety, comfort, and optimal imaging outcomes.
Demonstrate a thorough understanding and working knowledge of normal and abnormal anatomy, physiology, radiation safety, interventional supplies and equipment operation.
Provide patient education appropriate to the procedure.
Applies radiation safety principles, including shielding, exposure minimization, and proper use of protective equipment for patients and staff.
Assists in room/table/sterile-tray set-up and turnover.
Coordinates workflow to support efficiency of patient care and procedure.
Assist Physician with administration of contrast media with arterial, venous and percutaneous procedures.
Participates in ongoing education and competencies to maintain required certifications and clinical skills as directed by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and Massachusetts Radiation Control Program.
Assists in maintaining inventory for department.
Responsible for daily checklists, equipment safety checks/inspections, preventative maintenance, and reporting of any equipment malfunctions.
Assist and scrub with Vascular Surgeons/Interventional Radiologists in the operating room as needed.
Demonstrates proficiency in computerized informatics (information system).
Maintains and cleans interventional equipment.
Participates in departmental training and Quality/Process Improvement (QI, PI) initiatives.
Use of lead apron required.
On-call required for off-shifts, weekends and holidays.
Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers.
Performs other work-related duties as assigned or requested.
