About The Position

As our Special Proc Technologist, you will be a vital clinical professional, applying specialized X-ray energy for patient diagnosis or treatment. Every day, you'll meticulously perform complex radiological procedures and techniques, producing high-quality images for interpretation by licensed practitioners. You'll ensure patient safety, comfort, and accurate positioning, operating advanced equipment with precision and upholding imaging standards. To be successful, you'll combine strong technical expertise with exceptional attention to detail, a deep understanding of radiation safety, and a compassionate, patient-focused approach, contributing to accurate diagnoses and effective treatment.

Requirements

  • Graduate of school of Radiologic Technology
  • One year experience as a diagnostic staff technologist in a hospital setting
  • Medical Radiographer: CA
  • Registered Technologist Radiography ARRT
  • AHA Basic Life Support - CPR
  • Fire Safety within 90 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • One year experience in an Interventional Radiology procedure setting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Greets the patient, establishes patient identity, thoroughly explains the procedure to the patient and verifies the consent form is current, accurate, appropriate and in conjunction with Department and Medical Centers policies. Practices age-specific awareness when interacting with patients of various age groups.
  • Responsible for assuring safe equipment operation before attempting any radiology procedure. Troubleshoots equipment, reports all equipment downtime and malfunctions to the shift supervisor and cooperates with service personnel for repair.
  • Assumes the responsibility for preparation of the patient: Shave and prep the patient; Connect the patient to the patient monitor; Reviews surgical checklist and verifies the existence of allergies or previous medication reactions.
  • Protects patient and self from injury during patient transportation and during the procedure: Always places patient in proper body alignment. Side rails are always high up. Always uses proper body mechanics during work. Observes Body Mechanics video yearly; Implements age-specific safeguards when appropriate.
  • Interviews the patient for pertinent medical history, assesses the patients learning abilities, reviews patient chart or physician order and obtains consents on patient prior to performing imaging procedures as required.
