About The Position

This is a full-time position for a Special Procedures/Radiologic Technologist in Specialty Pain Services. The role involves assessing patient conditions, assisting physicians with interventional pain management procedures, producing diagnostic images, and ensuring the quality and accuracy of these images. The technologist will also be involved in maintaining sterile fields, adhering to infection control standards, and performing clerical duties. This position requires close collaboration with support staff and board-certified Radiologists to provide optimal patient care. The role also includes assisting with inventory management, stocking procedure rooms, and ensuring the availability of necessary supplies and medications. A willingness to learn and adapt to new procedures is essential. Effective communication skills are required for explaining procedures to patients and their families, as well as for collaborating with the healthcare team.

Requirements

  • Professional knowledge of Radiology and practice at a level normally acquired through the completion of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Must be a registered Radiologic Technologist.
  • Current BLS Healthcare Provider card.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses the patient’s condition and nursing needs prior to, during, and following interventional pain management procedures.
  • Assists physicians during interventional pain management procedures including epidural steroid injections (CESI, LESI), medial branch blocks, radiofrequency ablations, sacroiliac (SI) joint injections, spinal cord stimulator trials, trigger point injections and other procedures.
  • Prepares and maintains sterile fields, ensuring adherence to aseptic technique and infection control standards.
  • Produces diagnostic images using our protocols.
  • Obtains adequate patient history, explains procedures to the patient, while addressing patient concerns.
  • Evaluates images for diagnostic quality and ensures processed images are in proper order of exposure, and appropriate identification of patient and anatomy imaged.
  • Works closely with support staff and board-certified Radiologists for the best patient care.
  • Assists with inventory management, stocking procedure rooms, and ensuring availability of sterile supplies and medications required for scheduled cases.
  • Learns and assists with new procedures as they evolve.
  • Provides explanations to the patient and/or significant other.
  • Communicates with other members of the health team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
