The Special Procedures and Cath Lab Technologist will assist the Licensed Practitioner in the completion of fluoroscopic and specialized interventional and Neuro-Interventional procedures while using sterile technique. They prepare, administer and document activities related to medications and radiation exposure in accordance with federal and state laws, regulations or facility policy. This role performs high quality diagnostic vascular laboratory examinations using ultrasound and physiologic testing equipment to evaluate the cerebrovascular, peripheral arterial, and peripheral venous systems. The technologist prepares patients for procedures, explains them, and provides instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety. They also contact referring physicians for clarification if an exam order is suspected to be incorrect and utilize the hospital electronic medical record to review patient information, enter preliminary reporting, and document critical findings. The technologist completes assigned tasks in a timely manner, demonstrates behaviors consistent with the Mission and Values of Bon Secours Mercy Health, and adheres to standards and policies regarding the Corporate Responsibility Program, safety initiatives, infection control, and patient confidentiality. They must demonstrate proficiency in performing non-invasive vascular exams and possess knowledge of vascular anatomy, exam procedures, interpretation criteria, and correlation of vascular lab exam results with other hospital procedures.
