About The Position

Special Procedure Technician who excels in this role: Becomes familiar with all sophisticated radiographic equipment. Assists physician during procedures as directed and is responsible for maintaining sterile technique. Responsible for constant observation of the patient for signs of distress or complications. Assist with cardiopulmonary resuscitation when necessary. Maintains adequate supplies for scheduling of emergency procedures. Positions, transfers and properly immobilizes patients as required. Selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis. Provides radiation protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards. Maintains professional skills and provides age-specific needs to patients of all ages (neonates, infants, children, adolescents and geriatric). Follows safety procedures and guidelines and reports unsafe practices or conditions. Recommends catheter, guidewires and contrast for special procedure examination. Ability to take call. Assists surgical technologist as needed in Vascular OR. Responsibilities of basic radiologic technologist when needed in main department and OR. All other responsibilities as assigned in accordance with qualifications. Participates in peer competencies.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved School of Radiologic Technology.
  • ARRT with the passing of the VI Registry in 1.5 years.
  • CPR.
