About The Position

The Specials Technologist is responsible for the maintenance and quality of patient care in the Specials department and throughout the organization. They follow protocols and procedures meeting department standards, and work closely with the radiology nurse and radiologists performing interventional procedures and angiograms. The technologist utilizes assigned functions with the Radiology Information System to complete paperwork and to document contrast media reactions. They review patients charts for confirmation of physician's orders and follow written or/and verbal protocols and instructions. The role involves communicating equipment malfunctions and low inventory levels to appropriate supervisor, and utilizing the hospital computer system to enter radiology and laboratory orders, charges, or credits. Additionally, the technologist educates patients and families regarding exams, treatment, and outcomes, practices radiation safety according to department policies, and follows NRC and State regulations for radiation safety, keeping exposure "ALARA". They perform visual preventative safety inspections and report dangerous department or equipment conditions to appropriate personnel. The position requires presenting oneself in a positive manner, demonstrating commitment to flexibility in schedule when necessary to ensure patient care, and using the schedule to maximum efficiency, maintaining patient flow, and scheduling add-ons.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology.
  • Previous experience as a registered technologist.
  • ARRT Registered.
  • BLS Certification required within 6 months.
  • ACLS Certification required within 6 months.
  • Must have ability to achieve proficiency in job within three months.

Nice To Haves

  • Cardiac Cath experience and/or willingness to cross train for shared lab.
