About The Position

KBR is seeking a Licensed Mental Health Counselor to support the Nation’s Special Operation Forces and their families through the Preservation of the Force and Family (POTFF) program. This role involves working on-site within a unit to provide comprehensive behavioral health services. The ideal candidate will be a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) dedicated to improving the well-being of service members and their families.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in one of the behavioral sciences and able to meet Credentialing and Privileging standards.
  • LMFT Requirements: Master's or doctoral degree in marriage and family therapy from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE), OR a qualifying graduate degree in an allied mental health field from a regionally accredited education institution in conjunction with a program of marriage and family therapy study equivalent to COAMFTE standards as defined by the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). Must possess a clinical membership credential issued by the AAMFT.
  • LPC Requirements: Passed the National Clinical Mental Health Counselor Examination (NCMHCE) or an equivalent examination. Master’s or higher-level degree from a mental health counseling program accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP); and post-master’s degree counseling practice qualifying for independent licensure. Two years of post-graduate experience in various modalities and skill to provide individual, group, couples, and family treatment/counseling.
  • Must possess a license for independent practice as either a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist or a Licensed Professional Counselor from a U.S. state, territory, or district.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret or Top-Secret Clearance.
  • Shall have and maintain current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) as required for credentialing at servicing medical treatment facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Implementing policies, conducting screenings, clinical counseling and case management services, and prevention programming.
  • Serving as a point of contact for behavioral health services for active-duty Special Operations personnel, retired military members, their families, and others as authorized by DoD policy.
  • Providing a spectrum of behavioral health interventions, including interviewing, behavioral assessment, and evidenced-based therapies in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of psychological and neuropsychological disorders using individual, family and group psychotherapy, couples therapy, and alcohol and drug treatment evaluations.
  • Planning, developing, and implementing programs designed to foster positive healthy relationships within the family structure and unit connectedness.
  • Promoting and maintaining communication and harmonious working relationships within the unit, POTFF program, and other DoD and outside agencies.
  • Complying with Safety, Health and Environmental plan, policies and procedures.
  • Complying with the Quality Assurance plan, policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining regular and acceptable attendance.
  • Completing all required training.
  • Performing other assignments and duties, as required.
