About The Position

We need people like you with a heart and passion to help care for our community at SBC. As the Special Ministries Program Director, you are a vital part of the Team, responsible for carrying on the Vision, Mission and Values of SBC. In this role, you will report to the Central Special Ministries Director and are responsible for caring for youth (YTHU) and adults with special needs and to minister to their families. For the safety and protection of minors and vulnerable adults, you will be responsible for understanding and complying with mandatory reporting laws, along with ensuring that any volunteers under your supervision (if applicable) are trained and will adhere to these legal requirements.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Special Education
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Demonstrated competency in Interpersonal savvy
  • Demonstrated competency in Process Management
  • Demonstrated competency in Problem solving
  • Demonstrated competency in De-escalating behaviors, understanding issues facing individuals with disabilities and those who care for them
  • Demonstrated competency in Leading teams of volunteers of all ages and backgrounds with excellence
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Committed to spiritual growth
  • Relationally unified

  • Experience in special education and/or nursing is preferable

Responsibilities

  • Support the vision of Scottsdale Bible Church
  • Support the vision of Special Ministries Team
  • Work as a collaborative and cooperative member of the Shea Campus Team
  • Build relationships with special friends and their families (including parents and siblings)
  • Encourage and welcome caregivers
  • Build relationships with volunteers
  • Support and assist the Central Special Ministries Director in implementing ministry plans and goals
  • Create a warm, friendly environment that is safe, fun and represents Jesus’ care for all people
  • Ensure that all aspects of Sunday morning and Tuesday night ministry are ready and have a plan to problem solve
  • Welcome and connect with all new families, ensuring they feel comfortable and confident in the ministry
  • Help in crisis times when a special friend is in distress, sick or hurt
  • Invest time and grow in an understanding of each special friend and their diagnosis
  • Explore new methods in assisting friends with disabilities; assess and improve current methods
  • Attend during program times or when necessary, arrange for leadership in your absence
  • Maintain organization of YTHU and Adult classrooms
  • Related duties or special projects as assigned
