About The Position

Certerra-Southern Engineering is hiring a Special Inspector to oversee the performance of inspections and testing of various construction materials and/or systems on active construction sites to verify compliance with project documents.

Requirements

• American Concrete Institute (ACI) Field Technician Level I Certification
• Practical knowledge of the International Code Council (ICC) Reinforced Concrete Certification
• Combination of certifications in ICC’s and/or AWS-CWI and/or ASNT (UT-MT-PT)
• Occupational Safety and Health Administration. (OSHA), 10-Hour Certification.
• A current and valid driver's license that will allow insurance through the company insurance provider.
• High school diploma or GED

Responsibilities

• Reinforced Concrete/Grout/Mortar inspection and testing: Reinforcement inspection for compliance with project documents, Testing for slump, air content, unit weight, temperature, Molding of compressive strength specimens - Core drilling
• Spray-Applied Fire Resistive Material (SFRM) inspection and testing: Verifying suitable substrate, Testing for applied thickness, material density, and bond
• Special Foundations: Monitoring installation of deep foundations (e.g. piles, caissons, etc.), Monitoring ground improvement applications (e.g. aggregate piers, compaction grouting, etc.), Observation and documentation of load testing.
• Post-tension concrete inspection and testing: Check for proper tendon layout, Verify lift-off pressures and record elongations., Monitoring for proper concrete placement techniques
• Bolting & Structural Steel inspection and testing: Inspection of bolted connections and steel framing joint details, Steel and material size and type verification
• Soil/Aggregate inspection and testing: Testing density/compaction, Observing proofrolling, Verifying proper moisture content, Checking bearing capacity for foundation support, Excavation quantification
