Certerra is seeking a Building Envelope Forensics Inspector (BEFI) for our Paramount Consulting & Engineering group based in Miami, FL. The BEFI will have knowledge and background in architecture, engineering, or a related field, as well as experience in different building envelope systems including but not limited to waterproofing, roofing systems, glazing, stucco cladding, coating and paints. The BEFI will be in direct communication with clients and PCE’s project managers, will help coordinating the project’s site visit and comply with the project’s contract agreement and scope of work related to ongoing projects. The primary role of the BEFI is to assess, analyze, and provide our expert opinion of the building and the building envelope system’s current condition to help determine the needed fixes; ensure a water and weather-tight building envelope system and promote a long-lasting system performance and design to promote peace of mind to owners and stakeholders. Once a project enters the restoration phase and we have this phase including as part of the scope of work, the BEFI will also help to yield the following: Provide owners and property managers with assurance (and evidence) that what is being installed on the project is exactly what was anticipated and designed, both in terms of product performance and warranty coverage/period (with the simple idea being that they are getting what they bought/designed). Provide the General Contractor ‘GC’ with information regarding deficiencies in installations, substrates, products, and etc., in a timely manner, to avoid affecting scheduling. The BEFI will work hand in hand with the GC and the installers, ensuring the installation process is smooth and nothing is missed. Provide the product manufacturer with the assurance that the products are being installed as per submitted documents and manufacturer recommendations in order for product manufacturer can provide the appropriate warranty. Manufacturer’s will oftentimes depend on inspector reports in order to uphold a warranty upon completion of installation. Providing the governing city/entity with the assurance that various facets of the construction is being installed as per the governing entity’s requirements and approval documents. We are often called to be “Special Inspectors” on a project, in which case the governing city will depend on PCE’s inspections as the primary quality inspections assurance are in compliance with all requirements. In order to accomplish the above, inspectors and their Project Managers should emphasize the following duties throughout the project (from the beginning to the end of the project).
