About The Position

Intertek, a Nationally Recognized Testing Lab (NRTL) and leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is seeking a Special Inspector to join their Professional Services Industries Inc. (Intertek-PSI) team. This role offers a career opportunity in the architectural, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) industry. Intertek's Building and Construction division provides assurance, testing, inspection, and consulting services for new developments, existing assets, and facilities. Requirements

  • 5+ years of special inspection and/or construction materials testing experience is required.
  • External (or task related) certifications may be required based on region and state.
  • Must have Basic Math, Calculator and Computer Skills.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal & written communication.
  • Must be able to read and understand work plans.
  • Must be able to work off shifts and overtime.
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable driving record (required).
  • Must be able to work off shift and overtime as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
  • ACI/ICC Certifications are highly desired (ACI level I, ACI Concrete Construction Special Inspector, ICC Reinforcing Steel inspector, ICC Reinforced Concrete Masonry Inspector, ICC Soil Inspector, PTI Certified Post-Tension Inspector Level 1 & 2).

Responsibilities

  • Performs field inspections and construction materials testing to ensure conformance with construction plans and specifications.
  • Prepares inspection daily reports and testing data sheets.
  • Performs a variety of testing, project-specific observations, and inspection duties under general supervision.
  • Operates testing equipment and conducts testing (e.g., Soil, concrete, or other), providing an assessment of data through reporting.
  • Works utilizing drawings, specifications, and diagrams.
  • Uses specific methods to observe site activities and perform tasks.
  • Reads and Interprets Plans and Specifications.
  • Maintains and calibrates standard equipment.
  • Performs complex assignments.
  • Attends project meetings.
  • Makes detailed observations and gives the interpretation of results.
  • Maintains detailed documentation and data from test results.
  • Operates a calculator to calculate mathematical test results.
  • Communicates effectively with client and project teams.
  • Adheres to safety practices and policies to ensure personal safety and the safety of others.
