About The Position

Billings Clinic is seeking a Patient Transporter to provide patient transport services between departments and exam rooms/lobby. This role involves using various equipment such as wheelchairs, oxygen canisters, drains, walkers, crutches, canes, and Durable Medical Equipment (DME). The Patient Transporter may also provide patient instructions regarding preparations and restrictions for x-rays, adhering to established policies and procedures. The position requires demonstrating positive, supportive, and caring behaviors, utilizing good judgment, and effectively communicating with patients, families, visitors, physicians, and staff. Responsibilities include managing additional patient care equipment during transport, accounting for and ensuring the availability of department equipment, overseeing routine cleaning of transport equipment, and utilizing computerized information systems. The role also involves identifying and addressing potential problems and safety issues, applying performance improvement principles, and setting goals for professional growth and development. The Patient Transporter will support and model Billings Clinic’s mission, vision, values, code of business conduct, and service expectations, while maintaining competency in relevant standards.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent, preferred
  • Valid Certified Nurse’s Assistant Certification, preferred
  • Current CPR Certification at hire
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience relating to the above tasks, knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered
  • Employees that require a licensed or certification must be properly licensed/certified and the licensure/certification must be in good standing.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates positive, supportive, and caring behaviors in communication with patient/resident, families, visitors, physicians, staff and others.
  • Utilizes good judgment in providing transport and other assistance as deemed appropriate while ensuring all patient/guest needs are met.
  • Communicates with families and guests who are waiting for information on patients in Orthopedics & Sports Medicine.
  • Transports patient within the department or between buildings utilizing, gurneys, wheelchairs, assistive devises and DME.
  • During transport process, also manages additional patient care equipment such as Oxygen canisters, pumps, VACs, drains, etc.
  • Accounts for inventory of the department wheelchairs, Assistive Devices gait belts and DME.
  • Ensures adequate equipment is available in the department.
  • Oversees routine cleaning of all patient transport equipment between transfers.
  • Utilizes computerized information systems to look up information pertinent to the performance of the department patient procedures.
  • Identifies and anticipates problems and safety issues and initiates appropriate action.
  • Utilizes performance improvement principles to assess and improve quality.
  • Identifies needs and sets goals for own growth and development; meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
  • Supports and models behaviors consistent with Billings Clinic’s mission, vision, values, code of business conduct and service expectations.
  • Meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements.
  • Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency standards as it relates to the environment, employee, patient safety or job performance.
