About The Position

Supervise staff providing analysis and support for assigned program area by planning, developing, monitoring and evaluating complex projects and programs. To provide leadership in the administration of special funding programs and projects and to facilitate the implementation of these projects and programs with other VDOT offices and with localities.

Requirements

  • Ability to interpret state transportation laws and develop regulations, guidelines and policies.

  • Knowledge of federal and state funding as it relates to transportation enhancement.
  • Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices to include performance management and discipline.
  • Skill in the use of computers and various software applications.
  • Skill in the use of web-based applications.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively communicate with public and co-workers while demonstrating sensitivity for their opinion and suggestions.

  • Ensure program expenditures are monitored and notify project sponsors when they are not within allocation guidelines.
  • Ensure accurate program information is available to other VDOT offices and localities via websites, brochures, meeting information, workshops, etc.
  • Incorporate use feedback in resolution of issues.
  • Provide leadership for federal and state funding programs and for Program Managers engaged in development and administration of these programs and projects.
  • Ensure special funding program policies and guidelines are developed and adhered to.
  • Evaluate program operations and make recommendations for improvements as needed.
  • Conduct programming activities and coordinate program requirements.
  • Establish priorities for staff based on fluctuating workloads and deadlines.
