About The Position

As a Special Equipment Technician at JLL, you'll be at the forefront of maintaining and optimizing the specialized laboratory and processing equipment that keeps our clients' critical operations running smoothly. This hands-on role centers on the technical expertise required to service, troubleshoot, and repair complex systems including autoclaves, glasswashers, ovens, dryers, rack and tunnel washers, and other specialty equipment essential to research, healthcare, and industrial facilities. You'll work independently and as part of a collaborative team to ensure equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and deliver exceptional service that exceeds client expectations. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 - 2 years of hands-on experience maintaining and repairing autoclaves, glasswashers, laboratory ovens, industrial dryers, or similar specialized processing equipment
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
  • Working knowledge of control systems, and equipment monitoring technologies
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds, work in confined spaces, and use hand and power tools safely

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a technical training program in mechanical systems, industrial maintenance, or related field is a plus.
  • Associate degree or higher in industrial maintenance technology, electromechanical technology, or related technical discipline.
  • Experience with major equipment brands such as STERIS, Getinge, Gruenberg, or other laboratory and sterilization equipment manufacturers.
  • Background working in laboratory, healthcare, pharmaceutical, or research facility environments
  • Certification in autoclave maintenance, steam sterilization systems, or related specialty equipment
  • Strong customer service orientation with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements such as FDA, GMP, or ISO standards as they apply to laboratory and processing equipment
  • Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and mobile work order platforms

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on autoclaves, glasswashers, ovens, dryers, rack and tunnel washers, and other specialized laboratory and processing equipment
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control system issues using technical manuals, diagnostic tools, and hands-on problem-solving skills
  • Respond to service calls and emergency situations promptly, working to minimize equipment downtime and restore full functionality to critical systems
  • Document all maintenance activities, service reports, calibration records, and equipment performance data accurately in computerized maintenance management systems
  • Collaborate with facility management teams, laboratory staff, contractors, and vendors to coordinate repairs, upgrades, and system optimization projects
  • Ensure all work complies with safety regulations, industry standards, manufacturer specifications, and JLL's quality standards
  • Participate in on-call rotation to provide after-hours and emergency support as needed
  • Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders about equipment status, maintenance needs, and recommended improvements
  • Continuously expand your technical knowledge through training opportunities and hands-on experience with evolving specialty equipment technologies
