The assistant helps maintain a functional and orderly classroom environment, assists with clerical tasks, and supervises students during various activities, including those off school property. They are responsible for monitoring student needs and behaviors, reporting unusual incidents, and maintaining confidentiality. The role also requires the use of specific crisis intervention techniques and providing for the special needs of individual students, such as lifting and hygiene assistance.
