About The Position

NFI North is seeking to fill an immediate opening for a Special Education Teacher at their Special Purpose Private School (SPPS) in Buxton, Maine. This SPPS is part of a residential treatment program serving up to eight students in grades 7-12. The role involves planning lessons, assessing student progress, teaching, supervising support staff in the classroom, and participating in IEP meetings or reviews. The environment focuses on individual student needs with a low student/teacher ratio, assisting students in steady academic growth. The classroom BHP's and Clinical Staff specialize in the treatment and education of students with a wide array of mental health diagnoses, including mood disorders, complex trauma, attachment disorders, ASD, and social and emotional supports.

Requirements

  • Degree in Education
  • Licensed teacher in Maine
  • Special Education certification (282) or eligibility for conditional certification (282)
  • At least two years of experience working with children/adolescents

Responsibilities

  • Curriculum and lesson planning
