About The Position
A Child's Place at Unity House of Troy is seeking passionate and qualified Master’s Level Special Education Teachers (Birth–Grade 2 certified) to join our welcoming Special Education Department. We are looking for a special education teacher to join our co-teaching model in an integrated setting. Our program strives to provide diverse, curriculum driven opportunities for identified children to learn along side their peers. Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Special Education
- NYS Certification: Students with Disabilities, Birth–Grade 2
- Proficient writing and computer skills
- Ability to implement and adapt behavior support plans
- Reliable transportation & valid NYS driver’s license
Responsibilities
- Assess developmental and educational needs of preschoolers with special needs
- Design and implement individualized, evidence-based instruction
- Perform student assessment and evaluation required
- Adapt behavioral plans accordingly
- Work with a supportive multi-disciplinary team
- Collaborate with all staff, teachers, therapists, administrators and families to benefit the children served
- Create inclusive, supportive classroom environments
- Conduct evaluations and maintain required documentation
- Promote a classroom of inclusion and belonging
