About The Position

The Merrimack Center is an Intensive Residential Treatment Program for adolescents that specializes in trauma informed care. The Merrimack Center provides 24-hour comprehensive care including a school on site, a full clinical staff, nursing staff, and direct care staff. In this position, you will be able to convey your passion for helping others with a dynamic team by bringing an energetic and positive approach while working with our youth!

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Must be licensed by the Massachusetts DESE for Special Education Moderate Disabilities 5-12.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and leadership abilities.
  • Knowledge of the needs of the population served; understanding of the range of interventions and treatment required by this population.
  • Maintains valid driver’s license as transporting students is required.
  • Background and driving record checks will be performed.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant experience with grades 5-12 preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement structured lesson plans.
  • Build a therapeutic rapport with our youth.
  • Work collaboratively with our special education team to provide the best academics for our youth.
  • Attend meetings with family members, collaterals and other teams to address any of the youth’s academic needs.
  • Help our youth discover what makes them feel competent and valued by working with them to develop important life skills.
  • Support them in developing a sense of self and provide them the skills to be successful in their next steps.
  • Provide physical interventions and verbal de-escalations to provide the safest therapeutic atmosphere for our students.
