About The Position

TheraPeds Partners is hiring a school-based Special Education Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year in Kansas City, Kansas. This is a full-time opportunity with guaranteed hours, designated planning and documentation time, a manageable caseload, and support from both TheraPeds and the school district. You'll work collaboratively with students, families, and school teams to provide individualized instruction and help students access their education, build skills, and make meaningful progress.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field
  • Active or eligible New Hampshire educator certification with the appropriate Special Education endorsement
  • Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, eligibility, progress monitoring, and special education procedures
  • Strong classroom management and instructional skills
  • Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learning needs
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Good organization and time-management skills
  • Comfort with educational technology, data collection, and documentation
  • Ability to complete required background clearances

Nice To Haves

  • School-based special education experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized and small-group special education instruction
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and services
  • Adapt curriculum and instruction to meet individual student needs
  • Collect data and monitor academic, behavioral, and functional progress
  • Complete progress reports, IEP documentation, and required records
  • Conduct or participate in educational assessments and eligibility processes
  • Serve as a case manager for assigned students
  • Participate in IEP, eligibility, and multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related-service providers, paraprofessionals, families, and administrators
  • Support positive behavior, inclusion, independence, and student participation across school environments
