About The Position

Lehigh Valley Academy (LVA) is seeking a collaborative Special Education Teacher to support students in Grades 6–8 within our International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme. This position is ideal for an educator who believes in inclusive practices, high expectations for all learners, and the power of strong relationships to help students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. At LVA, inclusion is central to our mission. Special education teachers work as valued members of interdisciplinary teams, partnering closely with general education teachers, instructional specialists, school counselors, and behavior support staff to ensure that every student has access to meaningful and challenging learning experiences. Requirements

  • Pennsylvania Special Education Certification (or ability to obtain Pennsylvania certification)
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • All required Pennsylvania clearances

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree preferred
  • Experience working with middle school students preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities in Grades 6–8
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to implement accommodations, modifications, and inclusive instructional practices
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Collect and analyze student performance data to inform instruction and measure progress toward IEP goals
  • Facilitate and participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with families and service providers
  • Support students' academic, social, emotional, and executive functioning needs
  • Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local special education regulations
  • Foster a positive, supportive learning environment where students are encouraged to become self-advocates and independent learners
