Special Education Teacher
About The Position
Merakey is seeking a Special Education Teacher to join their team at their K-12 school in Philadelphia, PA. The primary goal of the Special Education Teacher is to provide specialized instruction in an individualized program for students to empower them to become happy, confident, and productive members of their community. The role involves designing, supervising, and implementing students’ IEP plans, creating and coordinating student schedules, collecting and analyzing student data, monitoring student progress, and working effectively with a large team of professionals. The position also requires participation in staff development training focused on working with students with Autism and implementing state-of-the-art strategies for this population.
Requirements
- Masters's degree in Special education
- Must possess a Pennsylvania Special Education certificate; or a Pennsylvania Private Academic certification with ability to attain public certification within one year from date of hire will be considered.
Responsibilities
- Design, supervise and implement students’ IEP plans.
- Create and coordinate student schedules with related services and general education.
- Collect and analyze student data and monitor student progress.
- Effectively work with large team of professionals needs to coordinate services.
- Participate in several staff development training courses that focus on working with students with Autism.
- Implement state of the art strategies to work effectively with students with Autism.
