Requirements

• Must possess and maintain a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with Special Education endorsement.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team to plan instruction, analyze data, and implement interventions and enrichments for students.
• Must have the knowledge of theories of learning and child development appropriate for the age (4th & 5th Grade).
• Demonstrate ability to develop and foster positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Establish a positive learning environment with highly effective instruction and appropriate routines and procedures meeting the needs of the students.
• Employ a variety of instructional techniques to ensure student growth.
• Communicate student progress and concerns regularly with parents and colleagues.
• Develop and maintain a classroom conducive to effective learning with appropriate routines and procedures.
• Work collaboratively within the department to implement best practices and meet students’ academic needs.
• Develop and implement positive behavior support plans to help support individual student needs.
• Develop and conduct IEP meetings (reevaluation, initial and annual).
• Attendance is an essential job function.
