About The Position

The Special Education/Resource Teacher will support the mission of the school by providing individualized and/or small group academic and behavioral instruction to students with diverse learning needs. This role requires the individual to partner closely with the Student Services Team and classroom and content-area teachers. This role ensures that students with learning plans receive appropriate accommodations, modifications, and interventions while fostering a faith-centered environment rooted in Catholic values.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Elementary Education, or a related field.
Valid teaching license with Special Education endorsement (or eligibility for certification).
Experience working with elementary-aged students with diverse learning needs.
Knowledge of evidence-based instructional strategies, differentiated instruction, and intervention programs.
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.
Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs.
Strong understanding of learning disabilities, ADHD, executive functioning, dyslexia, and other exceptional learning profiles.
Ability to analyze assessment data to guide instruction.
Effective collaboration with teachers, families, and outside service providers.
Proficiency with educational technology and student data management systems.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

Provide individualized and small-group instruction to students with identified learning needs.
Develop, implement, and monitor accommodations and modifications based on student learning plans, service plans, or educational evaluations.
Help to design intervention plans that address academic skill development in reading, writing, mathematics, executive functioning, and study skills.
Monitor student progress using formal and informal assessments and maintain accurate documentation.
Collaborate with classroom teachers to support differentiated instruction and inclusive practices.
Partner with classroom teachers to develop strategies that promote student success within the general education classroom.
Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, interventions, and recommendations.
Participate in student support meetings, parent conferences, and multidisciplinary team meetings as appropriate.
Coordinate services with outside professionals, therapists, and public school personnel when applicable.
Maintain confidential student records in accordance with school policies.
Assist in the identification and referral process for students demonstrating academic or developmental concerns.
Recommend instructional materials, assistive technology, and intervention resources to support student learning.
Support the implementation of school-wide academic intervention initiatives.
Model and promote Catholic values through words and actions.
Support students' spiritual development by participating in school liturgies, prayer services, and faith-based activities.
Foster an environment of dignity, compassion, respect, and inclusion that reflects Catholic teachings.
Uphold the philosophy, mission, and policies of the school and parish.
Attend professional development and training sessions.
Support school policies and procedures.
