About The Position

The Special Education Teacher will be responsible for serving as the Teacher of Record, performing annual case reviews, maintaining communication with parents and general education teachers, and making program recommendations based on individual student educational needs. The role involves providing a classroom environment that enables students with disabilities to make educational progress, working with students according to their Individual Education Plan (IEP) services, and providing one-on-one and group instruction in both special education resource settings and general education classrooms. Additionally, the teacher will implement clear and consistent behavior strategies, assist students with emotional disabilities in reaching their behavior goals, provide instructional assistants with necessary materials and resources, and collaborate with building principals and deans to manage student behavior. The position also requires implementing Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Plans for individual students. Personal and professional responsibilities include nurturing positive relationships, demonstrating respect for colleagues, supporting corporation decisions, working as a team player, and handling sensitive issues tactfully and professionally.
