About The Position

The Special Education Teacher is responsible for developing and delivering high-quality lessons that result in increased student achievement and the promotion of essential independent learning skills. In this role, you will follow the prescribed district curriculum while proactively supplementing and adapting materials to ensure lessons are meaningful and accessible for students with diverse learning profiles. You will lead the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), creating data-driven goals that address the unique academic, social, and emotional needs of each student. Furthermore, the position requires a high level of organizational excellence to complete all mandated documentation and progress monitoring in a timely and compliant manner. Successful performance relies on the ability to collaborate effectively with staff across both elementary and middle school settings to ensure a seamless educational experience for students as their placement shifts based on district needs.

Requirements

  • Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with Special Education Endorsement
  • Ability to work cooperatively with parents, students, and staff to achieve behavioral and academic learning goals.
  • Current with research and literature pertaining to learning and instruction
  • Ability to be flexible and make changes when needed
  • Ability to work as a member of the building team
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Verification of identity and United States work authorization must be completed before employment commences.
  • Must be fingerprinted.
  • Employment is contingent upon clearance by the Washington State Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Nice To Haves

  • Training in Behavior Modification preferred
  • Demonstrated successful experience with special education students preferred

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating effectively with staff across both elementary and middle school settings to ensure a seamless educational experience for students as their placement shifts based on district needs.
