About The Position

This position is for a Special Services Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The teacher will be responsible for providing a quality instructional program for special services students and completing teaching duties necessary to the district’s educational program. The role involves program operation, classroom management, fostering positive interpersonal relationships, and fulfilling professional responsibilities within the school district.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Missouri teaching certificate in the area of assignment.

Nice To Haves

  • Teaching certificate in LD, BD, and EMH for teachers employed in those areas.
  • Experience in classroom teaching.
  • Special services experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares for classroom instruction.
  • Implements a variety of effective teaching techniques.
  • Participates in the development of Individual Education Plans (IEP) appropriate to students’ abilities and needs.
  • Provides for individual differences.
  • Tailors instruction to fit learning objectives for special needs students.
  • Implements instructional objectives effectively.
  • Demonstrates competent knowledge of subject matter.
  • Uses a variety of materials.
  • Uses instructional time effectively.
  • Motivates students.
  • Communicates effectively with students.
  • Provides evaluative feedback to students.
  • Organizes classroom to promote learning.
  • Manages student behavior constructively.
  • Provides modifications in discipline policy for BD students as needed through the Individual Education Plan.
  • Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Demonstrates patience, respect, and understanding for students.
  • Participates in professional growth activities.
  • Demonstrates initiative and enthusiasm toward work.
  • Follows the policies and procedures of the school district.
  • Assumes out-of-class responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates a sense of professional responsibility.
  • Supervises volunteers, paraprofessionals, or student interns as assigned.
  • Prepares necessary materials for substitutes.
  • Participates in staffings of students with special needs.
  • Assists with the identification process of special services students.
  • Develops diagnostic summaries in the manner established by the district.
  • Follows special education process and procedure as outlined in the District Compliance Plan.
  • Provides information needed for all state and federal reports.
  • Conducts self at all times as a representative of the school.
  • Completes other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
