About The Position

Achieve Beyond is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team in Long Island, NY. This role involves providing pediatric therapy services and/or evaluations to children aged birth to 21 years in natural settings. The Special Education Teacher will educate families and caregivers on intervention strategies, work in diverse settings (client homes, daycare centers, preschools, clinics, community settings), and follow unique therapy plans to address identified goals. This position offers a flexible schedule and the opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of children and families. The company specializes in ABA, Speech, Occupational, Social Work, and Physical therapy, serving children and families in the metro New York area and beyond.

Requirements

• Must have a passion for working with children and families!
• One of the following NYS certifications/licenses: Students with Disabilities (Birth – 2) Initial or Professional Certification, Permanent Special Education Certification, TSHH Permanent Certification, TSLD Initial or Professional Certification, NYS Licensed Master Social Worker, or NYS Licensed Clinical Social Worker
• Must be self-motivated and a team player who exercises patience and professionalism.
• Must be able to travel to and from assigned cases, including but not limited to: Driving a personal vehicle, walking and/or the use of public transportation such as a bus or train.
• The ability to ascend and descend staircases.
• The ability to lift 10 pounds regularly.
• The ability to sit on the floor, kneel and/or crawl for extended periods of time.

Nice To Haves

• Fluency in a language other than English is a plus!

Responsibilities

• Provide pediatric therapy services and/or evaluations to children aged birth – 21 years in a natural setting.
• Educate families and caregivers on applicable intervention strategies to facilitate active involvement and carry-over.
• Work in diverse settings such as client homes, daycare homes/centers, preschools, clinics, and other community settings.
• Follow the unique therapy plan established for a family/child, plan for ongoing treatment and address identified goals while documenting progress.
• Prepare progress reports as indicated.
• Maintain child records and confidentiality of information regarding children and families (in accordance with HIPAA, state and federal regulations).
• Submit required records within the established timelines.
