Special Education Teacher (SPED)
About The Position
This is a part-time Special Education Teacher position for in-home instruction in the Selden/Centereach, NY area. The role involves working one-on-one with a NYSAA (NY State Alternatively Assessed) student for 22 make-up sessions. The schedule is approximately 3 hours per day, 15 hours per week, with sessions scheduled after 4 pm. The contract dates are from 8/4/26 to 6/30/27. This position offers a flexible, after-hours part-time work opportunity, ideal for Special Ed teachers seeking supplemental income with a light, predictable weekly schedule. There is potential for additional placements based on district need.
Requirements
- Must hold a current license to practice in the state of NY.
- Have successful experience working with culturally diverse families.
- Assumes responsibility for ongoing continuing education and professional development
Responsibilities
- Consult and collaborate with School staff and families in regards to students’ educational deficits
- Conduct initial screenings as well as comprehensive evaluations
- Participate in the IEP process in developing present levels of performance, goals and objectives, and treatment recommendations for students qualifying for Special Education services
- Provide Special Education sessions through the use of current best practices based on prescribed services in the IEP
- Maintain all documentation required by the district including, but not limited to, notes, monthly summaries, and annual IEP’s
