About The Position

Position Overview The Special Education Teacher is responsible for delivering individualized instruction and support to middle school students with diverse learning needs. This role includes providing both push-in and pull-out services, ensuring students receive appropriate accommodations and achieve academic success in alignment with state standards.

Requirements

  • Valid New Jersey DOE Instructional License
  • Certification in Middle School Special Education (SPED)
  • Highly Qualified status in ELA and/or Math
  • Strong knowledge of special education laws, instructional strategies, and interventions

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for assigned students
  • Provide push-in and pull-out instructional services based on student needs
  • Adapt and modify curriculum in ELA and/or Math to support diverse learners
  • Conduct ongoing assessments and progress monitoring , maintaining accurate documentation
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure effective inclusion strategies
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and goals
  • Implement classroom and behavioral management strategies to support student success
  • Support students’ social, emotional, and academic development
  • Participate in IEP meetings, team meetings, and professional development sessions
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal special education regulations
  • Maintain a structured, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
