Nice To Haves

  • Pennsylvania teacher certification in an applicable middle-level or subject area, or active progress toward certification
  • Experience working with middle school students in urban school communities

Responsibilities

  • Deliver highly individualized, standards-aligned instruction based on each student’s strengths, needs, and IEP goals
  • Provide push-in, pull-out, small-group, and/or specialized classroom instruction depending on the role
  • Lead a classroom serving students with moderate support needs, when applicable
  • Develop, implement, and monitor high-quality Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Use assessment and progress-monitoring data to adjust instruction and accelerate student growth
  • For moderate-needs classroom roles, lead and support paraprofessionals by setting clear expectations, coordinating student supports, and providing ongoing guidance and feedback
  • Partner with general education teachers to adapt curriculum, instruction, accommodations, and classroom supports
  • Maintain high expectations while creating a structured, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
  • Support students’ academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and functional development
  • Collaborate with families, related-service providers, teachers, and school leaders
  • Maintain accurate documentation and meet special education timelines and compliance requirements
  • Advocate for students and ensure they have meaningful access to rigorous learning experiences
  • Participate in coaching, collaborative planning, professional development, and feedback
