About The Position

IDEA Special Education teachers support the achievement of students with a wide range of learning, cognitive, emotional, and physical disabilities. They develop individualized plans, provide in-class support in subjects such as reading, writing, and math, and teach content mastery to students receiving specified accommodations and service minutes. The teacher also serves as a bridge between home and school for students with significant needs and their families. This is a grant-funded position supported by IDEA B Grant funds. Funding may be extended, but continued or indefinite employment is not guaranteed. The employee works solely on activities allowable under the grant and must complete a time and effort report. The starting teacher salary for zero years of experience is $59,500, with potential stipends, performance-based compensation, and additional hourly pay for assigned after-school tutoring or Saturday school. The role requires at least 40 hours at school per week. The teacher may oversee the daily work of a Special Education Co-Teacher (para-professional) in the RISE classroom.
