Serve as a Special Education liaison/case manager for students in grades 9-10, coordinating the development, implementation, monitoring, and review of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Conduct and/or coordinate special education evaluations and assessments, including academic testing and other assessments as appropriate. Analyze student performance data, evaluation results, classroom performance, grades, MCAS, i-Ready, and other relevant information to identify student strengths and areas of need. Develop and implement specially designed instruction, accommodations, and modifications aligned with students’ IEPs. Provide direct push-in and pull-out special education services based on student needs and IEP requirements. Collaborate regularly with general education teachers to ensure that students’ IEP accommodations, modifications, and specially designed instruction are consistently implemented in the classroom. Serve as a primary point of contact for families regarding students’ special education programming, progress, and needs. Facilitate and participate in IEP meetings, including communication and collaboration with families, teachers, related service providers, administrators, and other members of the student’s educational team. Monitor student progress toward IEP goals and use progress-monitoring data to inform instruction and make recommendations for changes to programming. Support students in accessing the general education curriculum, including ELA and other academic content areas, while building independence and self-advocacy skills. Provide targeted academic and/or reading intervention when appropriate based on student needs and IEP goals. Collaborate with colleagues to identify and implement appropriate Tier 1 and Tier 2 supports and participate in MTSS and student data review meetings. Maintain accurate and timely special education documentation, progress reports, evaluation records, and other required records in accordance with Massachusetts regulations and district expectations. Communicate regularly and effectively with families and colleagues regarding student progress, concerns, and programming. Participate in professional development, staff meetings, required trainings, and other meetings throughout the school year. Support students with the development of executive functioning, organization, self-advocacy, and other skills necessary for success in high school and beyond. Potentially teach ELA, intervention, study skills, or other courses/supports as needed based on student needs and school programming. Perform other duties as assigned by administration.
