About The Position

Uplift Michigan Online School is seeking a Teacher of Special Education to provide an excellent education to all students, consistent with the school's mission, vision, and goals, and the core values of Summit Management Consulting. The primary goal is to ensure each student learns subject matter aligned with State standards and the Uplift Michigan Online School curriculum. Michigan residency and teaching certification are required.

Requirements

  • Residency in Michigan REQUIRED.
  • Michigan Teaching Certification REQUIRED.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Michigan Teaching Certification in the assigned area.
  • Pre-service experience, as required for certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Dual certification is highly preferred (RX and MB or MA).

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver lessons aligned with student IEP goals that are varied, interesting, engaging, and enjoyable.
  • Review incoming student IEP documentation.
  • Write IEP goals and communicate necessary accommodations.
  • Host and facilitate IEP, REED, MET, and MDR meetings for students on caseload.
  • Track student progress and update goal progress in EdPlan.
  • Facilitate learning by creating lesson plans that are in harmony with students' learning styles.
  • Provide Resource Room support and self-contained classroom instruction if needed.
  • Support students during weekly advisory sessions.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure consistency of special education support.
  • Ensure all IEP meetings and documentation are timely and meet or exceed compliance timeline expectations.
  • Review and analyze student performance data to develop plans to meet the needs of all students.
  • Maintain timely, complete, and accurate student records (i.e., Skyward and CAT).
  • Assist in the development of a curriculum aligned with State standards.
  • Ensure the classroom is conducive to learning – safe and nurturing for all students.
  • Provide consistency and balance for students.
  • Ensure parents are frequently advised of their child’s performance and progress via all available means (phone, text, email, Skyward, conferences, written correspondence).
  • Return parent e-mail and voice mail messages within 24 hours.
  • Conduct research, attend conferences and meetings, and pursue continuing education to serve as a model of lifelong learning and provide effective instruction.
  • Keep teaching certification up to date.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as directed by School Administration.
