What You’ll Do as an Autism Special Education Teacher You’ll make a lasting difference every single day by: Design and deliver highly structured, individualized instruction tailored to each student’s needs Implement and monitor IEP goals focused on communication, social interaction, behavior, and daily living skills Use evidence-based practices such as visual supports, task analysis, prompting strategies, and reinforcement systems Support students with complex sensory, behavioral, and communication needs, including nonverbal learners Collect and analyze student data to guide instruction and measure progress Develop and implement behavior intervention strategies in collaboration with related service providers Create predictable routines and structured environments that promote student success Lead, coach, and collaborate with paraprofessionals to ensure consistency and effectiveness in the classroom Partner with families and multidisciplinary teams to support each student holistically What Makes This Work Meaningful At Elim, our mission is clear: to ensure children and adults with disabilities are empowered to connect, engage, and thrive. Requirements
- LBS1 certification (or nearing completion by summer)
- Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) (or nearing completion by summer)
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver highly structured, individualized instruction tailored to each student’s needs
