About The Position
Milford Public Schools is seeking 2.0 Special Education Teachers for Specialized Programs at Harborside Middle School. This position is available for the 2026-2027 school year. Current CT Special Education certification (165 or 065) required. Salary and benefits per contract. Requirements
- Current CT Special Education certification (165 or 065) required
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience with Discrete Trial Instruction (DTI)
- Knowledge of and experience teaching students with Autism Spectrum Disorders
- Previous experience teaching in a specialized program
Responsibilities
- Provide individualized instruction in accordance with students' Individual Education Plans
- Develop Individual Education Plans in compliance with state and federal requirements
- Conduct assessments to determine students' eligibility for special education and develop appropriate programs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related services staff, and school personnel to design individualized student programs
- Supervise and provide professional learning for paraeducators
- Communicate effectively with school staff, families, and outside providers
- Facilitate Planning and Placement Team meetings, building or department committees as assigned
- Experience collecting student data, monitor progress toward students’ IEP goals/objectives, implementing Behavior Intervention Plans, and collaborating with District Behavior Analyst(s)
- Ensure students receive an appropriate educational program in their least restrictive environment
