About The Position

At Legacy Traditional Schools, we are looking for Special Education Teachers who are passionate about changing lives through education. As a Special Education Teacher, you will have the opportunity to work one-on-one with students who need special support, helping them understand their capabilities and disabilities. You will develop and implement personalized learning approaches and programs to foster their growth, progress, and success. This role involves creating a positive classroom environment, utilizing direct instruction, exploring individual student needs, and implementing our proven curriculum and educational philosophy. You will also evaluate student learning capabilities, celebrate accomplishments, and encourage students to uphold values and model good character.

Requirements

Holding a bachelor’s degree or more advanced degree.
A current Special Education Multi-categorical teaching certificate within the state the position is located.
Background check requirements may vary depending on the state, including state and national criminal history background checks.

Responsibilities

Create a classroom environment that cultivates learning, engages the interests of the students and allows them to perform at their very best.
Utilize direct instruction techniques to guide students through a variety of activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth.
Explore individual needs and provide side-by-side support to understand each student's learning style and abilities, developing personalized solutions.
Implement the proven curriculum and educational philosophy, guiding the learning process and students toward achievement of curriculum goals.
Evaluate each student’s learning capabilities and celebrate student accomplishments.
Encourage students to uphold values and model mature behavior and good character in the classroom, on the school campus, and throughout their lives.
Participate in events outside of normal hours.
Be active in the role, which may include light lifting, sitting, standing, moving throughout the campus, and traveling to other campuses as required.
