About The Position

Perkins Lower School serves elementary- and middle-school-age students with visual impairments, blindness, and multiple disabilities. Its program combines academic learning with real-world experiences and supports students in developing daily living skills, communication, travel confidence, independence, and social-emotional skills. The Special Education Teacher creates and delivers personalized instruction for students with multiple disabilities, including visual impairments. The teacher designs engaging lessons, adapts materials, assesses student progress, and helps each learner thrive.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Education.
Ability to obtain a severe special needs teacher license within three years of employment.
Must currently be enrolled in a Special Education master’s program.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in Special Education with current teacher certification in severe special needs.
Prior experience with students with visual impairments.
