About The Position

Huron Valley Schools is seeking an enthusiastic, competent and effective teacher of students with Multiple Impairments. This teacher will need to be a highly collaborative employee and effective communicator in using both verbal and written skills. This position is for the School Year 2026-2027, starting on 8/25/2026.

Requirements

  • Hold a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with a Special Education endorsement Cognitive Impairments (SA) and/or Physical or Other Health Impairments (SC).
  • Meet the Highly Qualified standard under the ESSA OR be recommended for a certificate or endorsement, constituting full approval in a special education area by an institution of higher education signifying verification of completion of a teacher program, as approved by the State Board of Education.
  • Ability to speak and write effectively.
  • Ability to apply ELA concepts to practical situations.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral format and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively provide instruction to students with an Individualized Education Plan who qualify under severe multiple impairment or who require similar supports.
  • Effectively communicate in writing and verbally with students, staff and families.
  • Effectively collaborate with ancillary service providers such as physical therapists, occupational therapists, school nurses, school social workers, and/or school psychologists.
  • Effectively lead a team of paraeducators, managing their break schedules and ensuring they are completing Medicaid billing.
  • Progress monitor students growth on IEP goals, report data to families, and provide grades quarterly.
  • Be engaged while attending building and department meetings.
  • Be a learner of your content and other school related topics to benefit students.
  • Sign Consent to Bill for Medicaid and complete Medicaid documents for billing daily.
  • Upload all Medicaid documents to MiStar monthly.
  • Attend Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training after school as certification expires.
  • Attend other behavioral techniques training after school hours.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the special education director or the building principal.
