About The Position

The Lowell Community Charter Public School (LCCPS) is seeking a Licensed Moderate Disabilities - Special Education Teacher. LCCPS is a vibrant community of 815 K1-8 grade students, families, and staff, proud to serve the diverse communities of Lowell. Responsibilities

  • Instruction, evaluation, coordination, and regulatory compliance for special education students in inclusive settings.
  • Collaboration with general education co-teacher, teaching and grade-level teams, and other staff, especially the instructional support team, to plan, share student work, and ensure instruction is aligned with identified curriculum and standards.
  • Maintaining high academic and social-emotional expectations for all students in the class.
  • Providing learners with specially designed instruction, developing accommodations and modifications, and offering language instruction or other interventions to facilitate learning.
  • Supervising paraprofessionals and ensuring they provide opportunities for students to access the curriculum.
  • Developing Individualized Student Programs (IEP) for students and maintaining compliance with all Federal Regulations and State Policies regarding the education of students with disabilities.
  • Ensuring appropriate accommodations to the curriculum, lessons, and learning environment. Instruction may be provided within the regular classroom setting, resource setting, and/or small classroom setting.
  • Formally and informally assessing student learning (rather than relying solely on standardized curriculum) to create a comprehensive learning program.
  • Setting high expectations that are suitable for the students.
  • Administering assessments and testing, which may be differentiated or specialized based on each individual student plan. This may require developing alternative assessments.
  • Building a partnership with families, encouraging their active participation in student learning.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by administration.
