About The Position

The Lowell Community Charter Public School (LCCPS) is seeking a Licensed Moderate Disabilities- Special Education Teacher for a full-time position. LCCPS serves 815 K1-8 grade students from diverse backgrounds, with a mission to foster creative, confident, and independent thinkers, global citizens, and leaders. The special education teacher will be responsible for instruction, evaluation, coordination, and regulatory compliance for special education students in inclusive settings, collaborating with general education teachers and support staff to ensure curriculum alignment and high academic and social-emotional expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Instruction, evaluation, coordination, and regulatory compliance for special education students in inclusive settings.
  • Collaboration with general education co-teacher, teaching and grade-level teams, and other staff, especially the instructional support team, to plan, share student work, and ensure curriculum and standards alignment.
  • Maintaining high academic and social emotional expectations for all students.
  • Providing specially designed instruction, developing accommodations and modifications, and offering language instruction or other interventions.
  • Supervising paraprofessionals and ensuring they provide opportunities for students to access the curriculum.
  • Developing Individualized Student Programs (IEP) and maintaining compliance with Federal Regulations and State Policies.
  • Ensuring appropriate accommodations to the curriculum, lessons, and learning environment.
  • Formally and informally assessing student learning to create a comprehensive learning program.
  • Setting high expectations suitable for the students.
  • Administering assessments and testing, potentially differentiating or specializing based on individual student plans, which may include developing alternative assessments.
  • Building partnerships with families and encouraging their active participation in student learning.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by administration.
