Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Valid California Single Subject or Education Specialist (Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe) teaching credential.
  • Knowledge of state curriculum standards, IEP development, and special education laws (IDEA, Section 504, ADA).

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs for students with moderate to severe disabilities.
  • Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Provide direct instruction in academic, social, communication, and life skills.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment and progress monitoring; adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Collaborate with general education staff, specialists, and families to support inclusion and overall student success.
  • Maintain accurate records, progress reports, and comply with all state and district regulations.
  • Supervise paraprofessionals and support staff as needed.
  • Support positive behavioral interventions and implement Individual Behavior Plans when applicable.
  • Other duties as assigned
