About The Position

This is a Middle School Teaching position for an LBSI Teacher at Indian Trail Middle School, available starting August 2026. The role involves chairing IEP meetings, managing caseloads, planning and instructing students according to District and Illinois State Standards, and communicating with parents and students regarding progress. The teacher will be responsible for entering student grade information into computer databases, developing lesson plans and goals, and conducting assessments to evaluate student progress. This role also requires maintaining student records, developing intervention strategies, and collaborating with teachers, paraprofessionals, and specialists to discuss student modifications, adaptations, and learning issues. The teacher will work collaboratively to enrich or modify lessons, curriculum, materials, and resources to meet individual student needs. Additionally, the position involves setting clear classroom expectations, managing the classroom environment with positive behavior supports, establishing a safe and positive learning atmosphere, and acting as a role model for appropriate social, emotional, and physical development. Participation in staff development, school improvement activities, and planning for best practices are expected. The role may also involve participating in events outside the regular workday, such as orientation, open houses, conferences, or extra-curricular activities, and potentially coaching a sport or sponsoring activities. Other related duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Valid State of Illinois Professional Educator License with appropriate endorsements registered in Will County/Region 56

Responsibilities

  • Chair IEP meetings and manage caseload.

  • Meet regularly with teachers, paraprofessionals and specialists to discuss individual student's modifications or adaptations, ongoing learning issues, interventions or problems.
  • Work collaboratively to ensure individual student's needs are met by enriching or modifying lessons, curriculum, materials, and resources as needed.
  • Set clear expectations for class and manage classroom and school environment applying positive behavior supports and interventions as needed.
  • Establish a safe atmosphere conducive to a positive learning environment.
  • Act as role model by encouraging appropriate behaviors that lead to social, emotional and physical development.
  • Participate in staff development and school improvement activities in order to maintain professional growth.
  • Plan and incorporate best practices or new strategies.
  • Participate in events outside of the regularly scheduled work day such as orientation, open houses, conferences or extra-curricular activities.
